I am going to provide you with an update on the Ontario criminal court system’s adaptation to Covid 19 Pandemic. What’s happened this summer and spring and right now? What’s going on? Well, our court system, our criminal court system has been brought kicking and screaming into the 21st Century. The Ministry of Attorney General has done a commendable job of going to technology. This was long overdue and it’s one of the great benefits that’s come out of the Covid Pandemic. I suppose something positive can come out and this has been replete across the province. The Ministry is very committed to technology now.

We are doing electronic disclosure, electronic designations of counsel, we’re doing zoom technology.
Taking advantage of modernization in the court system. It’s happening across the board. They’re spending a lot of money and this is allowing us to thrive in the court system as best we can during Covid, but it’s also setting us up well for the future. It was long overdue. We are no longer in the 19th or maybe the 20th Century obviously and I really commend the Ministry for what they are doing and committing even further dollars to this type of adaptation.
